Baby Shower

Last Saturday I had 4 close friends throw me the most incredible baby shower.  It really was a huge blessing and so much work and details went into it.  One friend drove in from Dallas to help host and another drove in from New Orleans!  I really have some great friends!  It was a sports theme shower and everything was decorated so cute!!

Yummy Food

I wish that this picture could capture all the details that went along with this diaper cake, it was amazing!  My creative friend Staci made it and the bear is riding a motorcycle made out of diapers!

It was a huge blessing to see all the people who came to celebrate with me!  It was a great turnout and I was truly blessed to see some special friends...old and new!

The wonderful hostesses!!

I was also really blessed with all the generous gifts for Cooper!

A book of personalized prayers from my sweet friend Natosha

A sweet gift from my good friend Jana with Cooper's name and Bible verse....love it!

Another very special memory was that my mom was able to come be there with me!  As some of you may know, my mom was diagnosed with cancer about 2 weeks ago and she started her chemotherapy the day before the shower.  She woke up the morning of the shower with a fever and thought she wouldn't be able to go.  As the morning went on her temperature started to go down so she began to get ready just in case.  By the time she and my dad got in the car on the way over to the shower, her temperature was a perfect 98.6!  It was a huge blessing and a surprise as I was so blessed to have my mom there!

My mom got to visit with some dear friends

Justin came over at the end to help load the gifts...us with Cooper's Granna and Mimi

We were able to spend some time with Justin's family after the shower.  Me and Justin with his cousin Anais and her husband Jason.  She is also pregnant and we look forward to raising our little ones together!

It was a very special day and I'm thankful to the Lord for all the many blessings!  A special thanks to Staci, Karrie, Jennifer and Julie who put so much work and time into making this day special for me....it was perfect!!

6 weeks to go!!

It's been awhile since I've had a pregnancy update as we've had so much going on in our family plus having 2 showers and family in town on top of getting sick a few weeks ago and not feeling like doing anything!  But here I am, now at 34 weeks and only have 6 more weeks to meet our sweet boy.  I'm now going to the Doctor every 2 weeks and at my next Doctor's appointment they will start checking me so that is exciting.  Yesterday we had our 34 week ultrasound which was very fun...I always love seeing Cooper again.  The ultrasound looked perfect and he weighs 5 pounds 4 oz already!  He is in the 47 percentile on weight which she said was right where he needs to be and will gain about a half a pound a week from here on out.  That means if I go to 40 weeks, he'll be about 8 pounds!  I'm so relieved that he is healthy and doing well.  Since he is big and doesn't have much room anymore, we didn't get any real good pictures, but he does look like he has cubby cheeks!  He also had his hand in front of his face as always and he was holding his toes with his hands!  The tech said he was even sucking his toes...is that not the cutest thing or what?  It's pretty amazing how he is almost full grown and is a real baby inside me, I just can't believe it sometimes.

Cooper is still a very chilled baby and just doesn't move around a whole lot.  He was moving during the ultrasound but he's not one to give me this huge kick or punch like some babies do.  He is just being sweet to his mama. ;) His lack of movement definitely concerns me at times and I even had to get another ultrasound around 30 weeks because he wasn't moving very much.  My  Doctor said that it could be because I had low fluid so she wanted to check it out.  Thankfully my fluid level was perfect and he was doing just fine.  I think I could hold the record of the most ultrasounds, at least at my specific doctor.  I've had a total of 9 ultrasounds now!  The beginning I had 4 right away because of my previous miscarriages, then I've had 2 extra ones because he's not a big mover.  Though he's not a big mover on most days, there are a few days where he is moving around like crazy and I love it.  He has also gotten the hiccups a few times which is just too cute for words. I can definitely tell the difference between hiccups and movement especially since he's not a big mover.  Everyone has told me that their personality in the womb reflects the personality when they are a baby so we'll see if that holds true!  If so, he will definitely have Justin's laid back personality!

The nursery is coming together slowly but surely.  I just had another shower this past Saturday which I will do a whole separate post on since it was just amazing!  I have all the furniture in the room and now I just need to hang stuff on the walls, hang the curtains, decorate it, put the changing pad on the dresser, etc, etc.... I ordered some letters with Cooper's name on it and one other thing I'm waiting to get here.  I've also been busy washing all his cute new clothes and organizing them by size and putting them in the dresser.  Here is the progress so far:

Everyone tells me these next 6 weeks will fly by and I'm hoping so!  I'm still feeling good for the most part but definitely starting to slow down.  My body is more achy overall and I get tired very easily.  My feet are massively huge and swollen these days, I'm ready for that to be over!  I'm still sleeping pretty well but waking up super early in the morning with a lot on my mind and can't go back to sleep.  Justin and I did take childbirth class 2 weeks ago which was helpful and I enjoyed lots of massages and being pampered by Justin as we practiced getting through contractions :)  Another perk of having a nurse for a husband is nothing really grosses him out so seeing labor should be no problem for him!  I'm also taking a breastfeeding class next week.  Justin and I are going to a resort near San Antonio over labor day to celebrate our 2 year anniversary.   We are celebrating  a little early since I'll be 39 weeks pregnant for our 2 year anniversary and it's probably not the best idea to travel at 39 weeks.  We are so ready for a getaway before the baby comes!!

Church Shower

Yesterday, Long Point Baptist Church gave Justin and I a very sweet shower.  I have been working for Long Point for exactly 4 years now and will be sad to step down at the end of September.  The shower was after the church service with yummy food, precious people, and very considerate gifts for baby Cooper.  It was a co ed shower so it was very nice for Justin to be a part of it.  Justin was cracking me up with his comments as he really isn't very familiar with all the baby gear that is needed, but what 1st time dad is??  My favorite quote was when we received a boppy slipcover as a gift, Justin said, "what is a boppy?  Is that used to help burp the baby?"  Granted, I'm sure most men don't know what a boppy is, but we were cracking up.  We had a lot of fun and felt truly blessed.  Here are a few pictures of the shower:

This is a sweet tag blanket our friend had made for us with Cooper's name on it along with sports theme.  Super cute!!

Opening up gifts!

A diaper bag with the initial "C" on it filled with diapers, wipes, books and onesies!

I wish that I would have gotten more pictures of the room, the people and the food to remember it, but I just wasn't thinking about taking pictures.  Thankfully my friend was taking pictures for me so I got some shots of us opening up gifts.  Thanks again to our church family, it was a blessing!!

30 weeks

This week I am 30 weeks pregnant.  I have made it to the 30's!  Only 10 weeks to go...the end is in site.    As I have said before, I do love being pregnant, but it is taking forever and I'm just ready to hold my baby boy.  I'm ready to be a stay at home mom and start my new career.  Time is just crawling by it seems.  I am very thankful that I have had a pretty uneventful pregnancy so far.  No big drama, nothing abnormal, no complications, and still feeling pretty good for 30 weeks.  I don't have much to update on but here is what's going on at 30 weeks:

  • Baby boy is moving, but not much and it drives me crazy!  The little stinker is definitely helping me to turn to the Lord more and trust Him that He is in control and not to fear.  There are definitely days or moments when he moves a ton, and then there are days when I don't feel him move at all.  He definitely doesn't move throughout the entire day and I hope that means he will be a good sleeper..wishful thinking :)   I will say one of the best things we did was rented a heart monitor at the beginning of my pregnancy around 12 weeks.  We use is about once a week, or when I have days I don't feel him, and it helps a ton!
  • Still having lots of weird dreams at night, it's very entertaining
  • How in the world do pregnant women shave their legs and tie their shoes?  This is becoming more and more difficult.  I get winded just putting on my shoes, it's ridiculous.  One good thing about being pregnant in the summer, I can wear lots of flip flops and my shoes aren't too small for my giant feet
  • Yes, my feet definitely swell pretty easy and look like monster feet at the end of the day.  I try to wear tennis shoes as much as  possible and that helps a lot.
  • I don't work out as much as I used to, but try to walk about 3 times a week now.  Its harder when it's so hot in the summer, but having a dog helps motivate me to take her for walks!  I also go to the gym with Justin when I can and just walk on the treadmill.
  • Here is normal conversation in the Cummings' home these days.  Me:  "It's SO hot in here!  Aren't you hot?"  Justin:  "I'm actually cold"  Dang it!  It's true that I'm getting more hot than my extremely hot natured husband.
  • I'm becoming more emotional again like I was in the first trimester.  I'm thankful for a patient husband!
  • I'm enjoying the comments and questions from the kiddos at church each week, they are so funny!  They ask how Cooper is doing all the time, and each time I ask for prayer requests, they will say pray for baby Cooper.  They are so cute.  One girl said she was so glad Cooper was coming early October so he could go trick or treating...hate to miss out on that!  One visitor asked me yesterday so bluntly "do you have a baby in your belly?"  Thankfully, I do :)
  • Justin and I booked a short getaway at a resort in San Antonio to celebrate our anniversary before the baby is born.  Since our anniversary is just a week before his due date, we will be celebrating it the month before.   It will be a good time for us to just get away and relax and have our "baby moon" before our lives change forever.
  • It's really hard to picture having a baby in our home in just 10 weeks.  I really can't imagine it.  Our lives are going to change so much.  It's coming though and I'm so excited!
