Over Memorial Day weekend, Justin and I drove down to McAllen (aka "The Valley") to visit his grandparents. I had only met his grandparents once at the wedding, so it was a special weekend being able to spend more quality time with them. Justin's mom also drove from Austin to meet us down there so it was great being able to spend time with her too. We left Saturday morning and started the 6 hour drive, which ended up going by so fast. It definitely helps that Justin and I just love being around each other and there is never a dull moment..time just seemed to fly by! So we arrived there Saturday afternoon and had dinner together and visited. Then Justin and I went to a local park to exercise since we were in the car for so long. He lived in McAllen for 2 years so it was also good seeing this part of his life. Then on Sunday we went to a Baptist church his Aunt goes to and we really liked it. It was nice being in church service and just relaxing and not being in work mode. After church we went to lunch with his grandparents, mom, aunt and cousin. It was really good spending time with all of them. Then on Monday, Justin and I drove to South Padre Island and spent the day at the beach which was a blast! We were surprised it wasn't that crowded being Memorial Day. We bought a couple of boogie boards and had so much fun riding the waves and just relaxing on the beach. We also attempted to take some beach jumping pictures which was quite amusing for me, the photographer to watch. Here are some of the results:

I tried to tell him that the cannon ball only works in pools...
It was a bit windy, but he still snuck in a kiss..

It really was a memorial weekend on so many levels for us. His grandparents are the only living grandparents for both of our families so it was very nice spending time with them. I wish I had a picture of them from the weekend because they are the cutest grandparents! Justin's Grandpa wakes up at 5:00am 5 days a week to go work out at the park. He is in great shape! We are very thankful for the time we were able to spend with all of Justin's family and for the time we had to spend together just the 2 of us. We look forward to many more summer spent in McAllen!
Looks like fun! Love the beach jumping photos...especially the cannon ball. :)
